Part 4–Deciding to Succeed

The internet is fraught with pitfalls and potholes
and when you are just getting started you will fall
into many of them. Just like when you were learning
to walk, you will fall down consistently.

If you do not have the fortitude or the gut-level
willingness to succeed no matter what, you will quit,
and then you will experience true failure.

Online you will fail much. For everything you do
right, you will probably fail 3 times or more.
If you have the guidance of a mentor who has been
there before, you might get that down to only
failing 2 times for every 1 time you succeed.

Then how does anyone make it online? The ones
that do are the ones that fall down and get back
up quickly. They analyze their failure instead
of cursing it, and decide what to do to avoid
that pitfall the next time.

Unless you have a long-term goal in mind, one
that for you is irrevocable, you will probably
quit after enough failure. You might make it
through 15 failures, and feel really good about
it, and then on the 16th try, you think, I can
never do this. And you are right. If you think
you cannot, you cannot.

You must simply decide to succeed online, no matter
what. No matter what works or doesn’t work, I
have one goal in mind.

Go ahead a create one now.

Here are some suggestions:

I will create a product that meets the needs of
my niche market and that product will become
profitable.

I will do whatever it takes to create fulltime
income online.

I will do whatever it takes to make enough money
to make a car payment online.

I will do whatever it takes to become known as
an expert in my niche market.

I will do whatever it takes to create the
best __________ online.

Whatever your goal, your ‘I will do whatever it takes,
no matter what’ goal, you should personalize it.
Where I wrote ‘niche market’, name it, where I wrote
‘product’, name your product.

Write your goal once each on five pieces of paper.
Put one in your bathroom, one in your kitchen, one
in your living room, one in your car, and one at work.

Part 3–Evaluate Yourself

This is probably one of the most important steps of all.
You must know yourself, why you exist, and what you want
to receive out of the internet, and what you are
willing to give in exchange.

You must know yourself.  What you  are good at, what your
weaknesses are. You can excel at the things you are good
at, and yet if you don’t control your weaknesses, or have
someone else handle them, you will never get ahead online.

What do you want to receive out of the internet?  If you
do not know what you are going to get out of the internet,
how will you ever determine a way to get it? Imagine if
I visit a big city and I say I do not know why I am here
or what I am doing here.  What will I get out of it?
Maybe I will walk around it lost, perhaps stumble on a
tourist attraction or two, maybe I will see something
interesting, maybe not.  But if I visit that same city,
knowing what I want to see, I can buy a map, rent a car,
and go see and do everything I want to.  But only because
I know.  You must decide what you are going to get out of
the internet, or it will only give you the crumbs that fall
off the tables of the rich and happy online.  Guaranteed!

What are you willing to give in exchange for what you have
decided to get from the internet?  You must be willing to
exchange a fair value for everything you receive from the
internet.  Think of the internet as a real person, someone
with whom you will do business.  If you want to buy an
apple at the market, you have to give fair value for it
–whether that is one dollar or it is the exchange of an
orange.  But you have to give something for the apple.
If you just steal it, you are a thief.  Not
only will the apple not taste as good, but the police will
be called—and the worst thing is, you will have no
recurring method to get more apples.  The same thing is
true online—the internet will only give you anything
if you give some thing in exchange.  What are you willing
to give?

So what is this internet business I am suggesting?
One that requires very little overhead, has easy
entry into the market, but, like all things worth
doing, will require time, effort, and energy on
your part to become successful.

This internet business will be one you create from
scratch, from the ground up, developing your very
own product, web site, marketing campaign, and
backend sales system.  Now do not let this scare you.

I am going to show you step by step exactly how to
build your own product, your own web site, and your
own advertising and distribution network.  And yes,
it will be work.  Everything worth having, everything
that produces a solid, long term income, requires work.

Sure, you have seen all the get-rich-quick schemes
out there.  You read sales letters everyday that
promise you that if you will just buy this book,
you will get rich.  But you are not.  Neither is
just about anybody else that bought the schemes or
the books.  You see, in today’s fast-food world, easy
sells.  If a marketer labels his product as the easiest
thing to do, ever– for a limited time only, it sells
better.  But it doesn’t mean it really is easier.

So you are conditioned to this idea that to become
successful online, all you need is the right formula,
the best product, the most unique and newest marketing
plan.   But that is simply not so.  Perhaps you’ve bought
into some of it.  It’s OK. So have I.  Most others
online who want to realize the dream of working from
home making unlimited income have to, I imagine.

But the real ticket to success for you is not exactly
the same as it is for everyone else.  Only one person
invented the toothbrush, the camera, or the light
bulb.  Only one person could sell those rights.  Once
the inventor of the toothbrush became popular, it would
seem silly to think that all you have to do is go create
the toothbrush again (or the light bulb or the camera)
and you could have the same phenomenal results the
original creator did.   And the internet is no different.

When you buy the rights to do exactly the same thing
someone else did online to get rich, do you really
think he sells the rights while he is still making
the most possible money with his system?  Or do you
think he packages it to sell after the initial selling
frenzy is over?

You must have your own product, your own website,
your own distribution network, and it will not be
exactly like any other.  Sure, it might resemble
another, just like one grocery store resembles another,
but it will not be an exact cookie cutter model of
another.  It simply isn’t possible.  It will be yours.

Part 1–Introduction

In this article series, I am going to show you step by step one incredibly successful method of creating an ongoing online income. There are many ways to make a profit online. You can open a retail store, become involved in a network marketing company, become a broker of some kind, use the internet to boost your offline

income, trade stocks, sell products, become a catalog wholesaler, become an affiliate marketer, or perform any number of services that will benefit the online market, such as web design, lead generation, traffic specialist, software engineer, or teach people how to do any of those things for themselves.

Some of those methods require considerable upfront income, some do not. Some are available in a franchise format, where you pay upfront and possibly long term, but you have the stability of a proven system. Just about all of the methods outlined above would require education; perhaps not a formal education, but each of the tasks would require a basic set of skills just to do them perfunctorily, let alone to do them with enough skill to be paid a fulltime income while working from home.

You see, working from home in your underwear and making a fulltime income is a privilege, not a right. It is a privilege to write this from home, at my desk, on my schedule, not anyone else’s. But with every privilege, there is responsibility. I have the responsibility to provide my readers with the very highest quality information. Why? Because I am paid when you are learning. I am paid when you are successful, unlike the chap that collects 20 bucks an hour, 9-5, whether he is productive or not.

If you are still working full time and dipping into internet marketing part time or spare time, ask yourself this before you make the plunge: Are you willing to be paid what you are really worth? You see, online you get paid what the market will really bear, what you are really worth. At your current job, you may or may not be paid what you are worth. Some days you are probably overpaid. Others, you are sure you are underpaid. Online you are always paid for exactly what you deliver, no more, no less.

In this series, I am going to give you step by step instructions on how to build what I believe is one of the easiest businesses to get into online quickly, has low overhead, and can be leveraged for maximum profit from the very beginning.

But you will only be paid what you are worth. Because everything you do will have to be sold before you are paid.

You will have to learn how to do it. And you will not learn by reading a bunch of articles and some online books. Sure, you need to read articles and books. They are like the repair manual to your Nissan Xterra. If you are going to fix it yourself, you need to read the books. But just like you can read the repair manual until your eyes are dry and memorize every word in it, until you actually get under your car and drop the transmission and begin to rebuild it, not only will the job not get done, but you will not really understand it.

You have to do it to understand it. There is no other way. There is no magic wand. There is no special formula. There are steps, just like rebuilding your transmission. But just like I cannot truly explain to you how the gears fit together smoothly and with the least amount of friction unless you are under your car with that transmission, I cannot tell you what you will feel when you are studying an auto responder campaign or advertising results or the results of an email you send out with the wrong link in it. You simply learn by trial and error. There is no easier way.

So think of this as your repair manual, or your instruction anual, if you were to build your own car. I will tell you what the pieces are and how they go together, but only you an discover the way it feels when all the parts come together correctly. You will make mistakes. Everyone does.

The difference between the winners and the losers is that the winners make mistakes and learn from them and start over again; the losers make mistakes and give up. Which will you do?

3. Use a web-based ad tracking service. This service will hide the affiliate link, therefore reduce thefts.

4. Use an ad tracking script. Good ad tracking scripts hide the affiliate link as well as being useful for tracking. The advantage is that it does not promote someone else’s domain.

5. Use JavaScript redirect. Similar to web-based ad tracking service, this hides the affiliate link, and so it should reduce commission thefts.

Do note that you must take every necessary step to protect your hard earned commissions because thievery is a problem for all online businesses.
